"Mikhael" Monserrat doing a Mikhael Baryshnikov
MIKE MONSERRAT: The heartthrob of many a female teenager in the 70s, Mike was a born to be a dancer. A soccer star at La Salle Greenhills, Mike went on to play and compete with the Philippine National Youth Football Team. Mike is the remaining original male member of the first generation modern group of the show. With Mike, Tap & Soft Shoe dancing was introduced to a whole new generation of Gene Kelly wannabees. After Penthouse, Mike went on to do a feature film called “Swing It Baby” starring Vilma Santos, and subsequently hosted two TV shows, “Dance 10” with Ray An Fuentes and “2-Night” with Becca Godinez. He also competed and won Dance Fever Asia with fellow Penthouse alum, Gina Valenciano. They went on to compete in Los Angeles for the Dance Fever USA Finals. Years later, Mike returned to the States to join the rest of the Monserrat clan and landed in San Francisco. He auditioned and joined the San Francisco Jazz Dance Company, eventually becoming the lead male dancer and one of the Company’s choreographers. While dancing with SFJDC, he met and later married fellow professional dancer Gillian Gould. They currently live in the Bay Area with their 2 dogs. Mike now works as an Account Executive for a medical home health company. He is still dancing, taking Ballroom and Salsa lessons and even performs occasionally with his teachers.
